NERINA WHITFIELD (Physiotherapist)

Nerina studied at the University of Pretoria and qualified as physiotherapist in 1975. She worked in Pretoria at H.F Verwoerd Hospital and then spent a year working in England.

She moved to the Lowveld in 1979 after marrying Philip (the vet from White River Animal Hospital) where she gained experience in Spinal cord injury treatment and rehabilitation. In 1981, she started the practice which still runs today. Her caring, gentle nature is known to many and appreciated by all.

In addition to her 35 years' experience, Nerina has completed numerous courses, including Dry Needling, Kinesiotape, and OMT (Orthopedic Manual Therapy) courses.

In her spare time, Nerina is an avid bridge player and enjoys an afternoon on the golf course.

DANIELLE CARSTENS (Physiotherapist)

Danielle qualified at the University of Pretoria in 2010 after which she did her community service year at Barberton Government Hospital. She moved back to Pretoria and worked in private practice doing mostly Cardiothoracic ICU and orthopedics at Unitas, Pretoria East and Wilgers Hospitals as well as Back & Neck injuries, Sport and Pulmonology at the rooms. The lovely Lowveld and the quality of life that she experienced here during her year in Barberton beckoned her back in 2014 when she started working in White River.

She has travelled to Shenzhen, China in 2011 as physio for the SA team at the Universiade (World Student Games). She accompanied the SA Springbok Athletes to the IAAF World Athletics Championships in Moscow (2013) and Beijing (2015). Courses done include Pilates, Dry Needling, Kinesiotaping, Lower Quarter by Tanya Bell-Jenje, Basic Life Support and various OMT (Orthopedic Manual therapy) courses.

Danielle is also a photographer and spends her free time outdoors, preferably in the bush!

RENE SMUTS (Receptionist & Accounts)

Rene moved to White River from Phalaborwa in 1988.

Her friendly face has been a part of the practice since 1997. She was actually one of Nerina's patients and Nerina asked whether she would be able to help out for a 'short while'

That short while turned into years...and she can still be found at reception today!
